History of Bank of the Cascades
1975
An application was made to organize the first independent bank in Central Oregon . Bank of the Cascades was formed by a group of 15 local business people who recognized the need for local ownership in banking. Their intentions were to provide financial services which were superior in quality, scope and efficiency, and with service as the most important product.
April 1976
With several of the original members from the forming group continuing on to serve on the Board of Directors, Bank of the Cascades issued 125,000 shares of common stock to over 300 stockholders, predominantly from the Central Oregon area for $10 a share.
February 1977
After almost a year of preparation and organization, log cutting ceremonies opened the first branch of Bank of the Cascades at our Third and Revere Street branch with nine full-time employees.
March 1979
Community acceptance and continued growth enabled Bank of the Cascades to open a second branch in South Bend with our third and fourth branches quickly following in Sunriver and Sisters, Oregon .
September 1990
The Wall Street location was purchased and targeted to become the Main Branch for Bank of the Cascades.
November 1990
Cascade Bancorp, a one bank holding company and parent company for Bank of the Cascades, was formed with shareholders exchanging bank stock for holding company stock.
June 1992
Recognizing the opportunities for growth in Redmond , the Bank opened its sixth branch on South Highway 97 in Redmond .
January 1994
Cascade Bancorp, completed a secondary stock offering and became the first business headquartered in Bend to be publicly traded on the open market. (NASDAQ - CACB)
April 1994
The Bank expanded to Prineville by purchasing a branch of the former Far West Federal Savings Bank, making this the seventh branch of Bank of the Cascades.
December 1995
Bank of the Cascades first "Supermarket Branch" opened in the new Safeway Store located in the Forum Shopping Center on the east side of Bend.
January 1999
With a goal of for continued growth and market diversification and expansion, Bank of the Cascades opened their first branch outside of Central Oregon in Downtown Salem.
March 1999
Due to rapid growth in the Redmond area, a second location in Redmond opened in downtown on SW Sixth Street .
September 1999
Former CEO, Roger J. Shields retires, Patricia L. Moss, previously EVP/CFO, was elected CEO of Cascade Bancorp and President and CEO of Bank of the Cascades.
June 2000
The Bank's expansion outside of Central Oregon and its commitment to the Salem and surrounding area carried-on with a second Salem area branch in Keizer .
August 2001
Continuing our growth and expansion in Salem,we opened our third Salem area branch, South Salem, at 3999 Commercial Street SE.
August 2003
A third Salem branch opens, West Salem , along with the Bank's expansion to Southern Oregon and opens it first Branch in Medford . Local Banker, Bill Haden, is hired to lead the Southern Oregon expansion
November 2003
Bank of the Cascades 15th branch opened in Downtown Portland in the Pioneer Tower .
January 2004
Bank of the Cascades acquires the Community Bank of Grants Pass making this the second Southern Oregon branch and the 16th branch for the bank.
Bank of the Cascades announced that Michael Delvin was named President of Bank of the Cascades. Delvin served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Bank of the Cascades for the preceding five years. Moss maintained her title and active leadership role as Chief Executive Officer of Bank of the Cascades, as well as President and CEO of Cascade Bancorp.
February 2004
Old Mill branch opened in Bend in the Cascades Building . This 21,827 Sq. ft. building consisted of 2,200 sq. ft. for the branch providing full-service branch bank with lobby and drive-up facilities and over 19,000 sq. ft of Class A office space for lease on the ground and upper floor.
June 2004
Bank of the Cascades 18th full-service branch with drive-up lanes and ATM opened in the Forum Shopping Center providing additional services to the already existent East Safeway store branch and drive-up ATMs located by Wild Oats. Following just 9 days later, the second "Supermarket Branch" opened in the West Bend Safeway store. This compact facility provides banking services to the rapidly growing west side of Bend .
September 2004
The 21st branch for Bank of the Cascades opened in Ashland, Oregon , making this the fourth branch for the Southern Oregon region.
July 2005
The 2nd branch of Bank of the Cascades opens in Medford on Crater Lake Highway, increasing the number to 5 branches in Southern Oregon.
