The high country of central Oregon is one of the most scenic vacation and resort areas of the Pacific Northwest . Towering volcanic mountains rise like islands above a sea of blue-green pine forests. Alpine lakes sparkle like jewels in the bright sun,while crystal clear streams rush past rugged lava flows, meandering quietly through lush green mountain meadows. This aesthetic landscape provides the setting for the city of Bend, Oregon, and for the location of Elk Meadow Elementary School !
