Promoting healthy families by supporting and
teaching good parenting skills
We believe that being a parent is the hardest job there is. It is a job that does not come with instruction manuals or a clear description of what to expect. Most of us learn on the job as our children grow. It is often a bumpy road. But one thing is certain: we all want to be the best parents we can. The Family Resource Center can help. We reach thousands of Deschutes County families with our services every year.
Our Menu of Services is called FamilyTrax. FamilyTrax
offers help that falls into three primary categories:
We offer a telephone Helpline, a printed Community Resource
Book to help families connect to local resources, and a Parent
Library to help families who want to browse, do some research,
or check out a book or video. We also have many informational
pamphlets and handouts on a variety of subjects.
Over eight different research-based parenting and family skills
classes are offered to help families learn skills in
communication, handling stress and anger, and age-appropriate
discipline. Occasionally we are able to offer families Parent
Network discussion groups and the Safe Passages for Families
speaker series. The quarterly FamilyTrax Guide includes a
current schedule of parenting classes offered throughout the
county, as well as schedules for our discussion groups and
speaker series.
This is a schedule of upcoming family community events.
