An important part of the Sisters Folk Festival (September 8-10, 2006), the song writing contest is a showcase for outstanding but under-recognized performing songwriters. This is a SONGWRITER'S contest, not a SONG contest. This year, five finalists will vie for a $750 cash prize as the winner of the Sisters Folk Festival Songwriting Contest. The Americana Song Academy is an exciting, comprehensive workshop with an emphasis on songwriting, lyric development, guitar technique and accompaniment.
